Are you right for Ophelia?

Ophelia is a gorgeous 4 year old Malinois who is searching for her furever home. Her dream home would be somewhere with her own private garden so she can enjoy spending time playing with her new family, especially playing with raggy toys and footballs! Ophelia would like to live in an adult only home who are prepared to be patient with her as she may require multiple meets at the centre. This is because she has been unsure when meeting new people where she has initially barked towards them but with the right introductions working at her own pace she very quickly starts to become more comfortable and create a very special bond with you. Ophelia would also need to be the only pet in home due to her being dog reactive. Ophelia has been able to share brief sniffs and walk alongside some dogs but she can also be reactive where she barks, shows her teeth and lunges. Due to this, Ophelia will need to wear a muzzle when out and about but she is fully muzzle trained and happy to wear this when out on walks. She settles very nicely in her kennel, but she can become alert and vocal if there is a lot of noise around her so a home in a quieter area would be ideal. After Ophelia has had the help of her new family to settle in, she is able to be left 1-4 hours over time.

Is Ophelia right for you?

Ophelia absolutely loves her toys, she will even come bring you over a toy to initiate play with you. Her playstyle can sometimes be strong and energetic so she would like her new family to be able to cope with her energy levels. Ophelia does know the command 'finished' if you want the play to stop and she will go off and play independently. To further strengthen this, Ophelia would benefit from continuing 'settle' work training and loose lead walking. She is very clever and loves learning new things, especially if there is treats involved! She already knows 'sit', 'paw', 'down', 'touch', 'station' and her recall is great. Ophelia would benefit from some dog socialisation training to help her become more confident around dogs as well confidence training around grooming and vet handling. Ophelia loves exploring out on walks where she will stay close to you and do frequent check ins, she has so much potential who will definitely bring you so much fun and love to your lives.
