Are you right for Bright?

Bright is a beautiful 4-year-old Australian Kelpie cross Border Collie. She is looking for a calm and understanding home where she can continue to grow in confidence and enjoy all the things she loves most. Bright can live with teens aged 16 and over and will need to be the only dog in the home. While she prefers her home environment to herself, she would benefit from having calm and well-mannered canine friends to enjoy walks with, as they can help build her confidence. Bright cannot live with small furries, but she does have experience being around horses and chickens. When meeting new people, Bright can sometimes be a little unsure at first and appreciates being given time to get to know someone. Once she feels comfortable, her affectionate side quickly shines through, and she loves nothing more than a cuddle with her favourite people. She is housetrained, travels well in the car and enjoys spending time with her family. Bright is looking for a quiet home in a peaceful location. Having previously lived in a rural environment, she can find busy towns, cities and unfamiliar surroundings overwhelming. Loud noises, such as traffic sounds, can worry her and she will need patient adopters who can offer reassurance, guidance and understanding as she adjusts to new experiences. Bright thrives when she is allowed to go at her own pace and build confidence gradually. As Bright is not used to being left alone, any time spent by herself will need to be introduced slowly and positively.

Is Bright right for you?

Bright is an intelligent and active girl who loves having opportunities to use both her brain and her body. She already knows several cues including "sit", "down", "middle" and "wait", and she has previously enjoyed agility training. She would love a home where she can continue participating in agility or other fun training activities that help strengthen her bond with her adopters and boost her confidence. Bright enjoys exploring quiet woodland walks, open fields and other peaceful areas where she can relax and take in her surroundings. Although she can be strong on the lead initially when excited, she is capable of walking nicely once settled. She also has good recall, making adventures together even more enjoyable. Playtime is one of Bright's favourite parts of the day. She loves chasing a ball, playing tug games and carrying around squeaky toys. She also enjoys chewing on antlers and bull horns and would benefit from plenty of enrichment and mental stimulation around the home to keep her busy and engaged. While Bright has many wonderful qualities, she can find new places, unfamiliar objects and unexpected changes quite daunting. She lacks confidence in many situations and can become worried when faced with things she has not experienced before. Because of this, she is looking for patient adopters who can help her navigate the world gently, celebrate her successes and allow her to build confidence at a pace that feels comfortable for her. With kindness, encouragement and consistency, Bright has the potential to flourish and become a fantastic companion. Bright is a sweet, clever and affectionate girl who is ready to find a special home that will support her, understand her and love her for the wonderful dog she is.

How our rehoming process works

  1. 1

Create an account and fill out our application form

In our form you can tell us all about your home, your lifestyle and the kind of dogs you’re interested in. You won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can add favourites to give us an idea of the dogs you like. We’ll use this information to find a great match for you.

  2. 2

    Choose a rehoming centre

We’ll also ask you to select a rehoming centre. The team at this centre will look after your application and assess you against all suitable dogs in their care. This doesn’t have to be your nearest centre, but you will need to travel there within a few days once we’ve found you...

    We’ll review your application

We’ll review your application against the dogs in our care at your chosen centre. If we think we have the right dog for you, we’ll be in touch as soon as possible. If we don’t hear back from you, we will close your application for now, and you can reapply when you’re ready.

If we’ve found a dog who seems right for you, we’ll invite you to come and meet them at the rehoming centre.

Some of the dogs in our care will need to meet potential owners several times to get to know one another. This lets us see you’re compatible and gives you the chance to build a bond before making a commitment to give them a new home. By taking some time at the beginning to make sure everyone’s comfortable, an adoption is more likely to be successful.

We may also arrange a home visit with you, to see how your house will be set up and check that the garden (if you have one) is secure. This may not be necessary, though, especially if you’ve adopted from us before. Where you already have dogs, we may accept a reference from your vet as an alternative.

If we haven’t found the right match, we’ll continue the search together

If we haven’t found the right dog for you within three months, we’ll let you know your application is closed. We’ll invite you to apply again so we have up-to-date information about you, and we’ll keep looking.
