Shrewsbury rescue dogs support Shrewsbury Town FC underdogs
Staff and pooches at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury have their fingers and paws crossed for a historic win for local team, Shrewsbury Town FC ahead of their FA cup match against Premier League side, Manchester United on Monday.
The animal shelter’s homeless hounds have been honing their ball skills ahead of the match in the hope they might get noticed by Shrewsbury Town FC fans, keen to take home a winner. Two football fanatic fidos in particular, Winston and Lola are hoping they will both (Matt) ‘Toodle’ off to new homes after winning over the heart of a (Goal) ‘Keeper’.
Dogs Trust Supporter Relations Officer, Lee Pogson explains:
“All of us at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury are supporting Shrewsbury Town FC ahead of their big match on Monday, they might be the under dogs, but they’ve got the support of 130 rescue dogs here at the rehoming centre.”
“Lots of our rescue dogs love a kick around, even some of our Oakfield Oldies who live at Oakfield, our Old People’s Home for dogs. But its Winston and Lola who really love football, I’m sure they could keep the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones on their toes, and even put a few past David De Gea!”
Dogs Trust Shrewsbury’s homeless hounds hoping to be picked for a top team are:
Winger, Winston is a six year old Crossbreed who has a real skill at ‘crossing’ a ball. He’s looking for a quiet home with children aged 14 and over. As well as football he is also loves exploring the outdoors and delicious dog treats. Whist he is highly skilled at football he would benefit from further training in his new home. After a game of football he enjoys snuggling up for a nap so a cozy sofa is a must.
Left back Lola, is a four year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She is looking for a home with her best friend, Right Back, Carla. They are a great pairing and can live with children aged five and over. She adores playing football and cuddling with her canine carers. She is on the lookout for an active family who love football just as much as she does.
