Elderly homeless hound hopes it’s a case of new year, new home
Dogs Trust Shrewsbury seeks retirement home for Older Age Pooch
Staff at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury are hoping the first days of the new year will see an elderly pooch find a new forever home where she can rest her paws.
Fourteen-year-old Pippa, a Parson Russell Terrier, arrived at the rehoming centre just a few weeks before Christmas after her owner, who she had lived with since being six months old, could no longer look after her due to a change in circumstances.
Although the OAP (Old Age Pooch) has settled into life in Oakfield Oldies, a special house on the site for elderly dogs, the team are hoping the new year will bring a new start for her very soon.
Louise Campbell, Manager at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury, says:
“Pippa is a very sweet older lady and luckily at Oakfield Oldies she is able to enjoy her home comforts whilst she is with us, but she is in need of a place to call her own and a new family to love and look after her.
“She loves a fuss and although she is losing her sight due to old age, that doesn’t stop her enjoying life! She loves a day out, especially to the beach for a paddle in the sea, although she will probably want to wait for the summer to do that again! Hopefully by then she will be well and truly settled in her ideal retirement home.”
The team would like Pippa to find a home with children no younger than ten as she doesn’t like to be approached unexpectedly due to her limited vision. She is used to a busy home and can live with another dog, but isn’t a fan of felines. She would like someone to be around most of the time and loves to snuggle up on her owners’ bed at night.
