Volunteers needed to lend a paw at Dogs Trust Newbury’s Fun Day
It’s the biggest fundraiser in the doggy calendar and Dogs Trust Newbury is encouraging local people to join in the fun and volunteer at its annual Fun Day on Sunday 26th May.
A recruitment evening is taking place on Thursday 11th April at 6pm at the rehoming centre in Hamstead Marshall for dog-loving local people who want to give up their time and lend a paw.
The annual Fun Day takes place at Park House School in Newbury and highlights of the day include the ever-popular Fun Dog Show, have-a-go agility, kids’ games, a raffle, tombola, stallholders and games for all the family. It usually raises around £6,000 each year and all the money goes towards looking after the dogs in our care.
The rehoming centre is looking for volunteers to help on the day in various roles including manning stalls, marshalling, helping with refreshments and assisting with event activities and games.
Emma Wilcox, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Newbury, explains:
“Volunteers are extremely important to us as a charity and we couldn’t care for as many dogs as we do without their help. We are always on the lookout for new recruits and really hope the roles we have available will appeal to a wide range of people. All volunteers will have full training to help them get to grips with their new roles and will get to meet plenty of furry friends along the way. If you think you could spare a little or a lot of time to lend a hand, please come along to our information morning.”
The Recruitment Evening will take place on Thursday 11th April at 6pm. You must register in advance by Wednesday 10th April by calling Emma Wilcox on 01488 658391, or email [email protected].
