Snow's story: thriving beyond kennels

From a hoarding case to a thriving forever home, Snow blossomed thanks to dedicated kennel-free support.

Snow first arrived at our Ilfracombe centre in March 2023 from a hoarding situation in Devon. The Ilfracombe team worked hard to build Snow’s confidence and sought to mix Snow with other dogs to help build her trust in people.

Poor Snow sadly had very little interest from potential adopters while at Ilfracombe, so the team had to think outside of the box to improve her rehoming prospects.

As Snow really enjoyed the company of other dogs, she was transferred to Salisbury in May 2024, where she was placed in their group living facility.

Sadly, the noisy and lively nature of kennel life was not a good fit for Snow. Although sociable and friendly with other dogs, she was better suited to an environment which supported her need for security, routine and relationships.

Our Salisbury team knew that a safe, quiet atmosphere plus more dedicated support would give Snow the right setting for her to learn and flourish, without having the pressures of a typical kennel environment.

For this reason, Snow’s journey to find her forever home continued with a transfer to Newbury in October 2025.

The move to Newbury turned out to be the perfect placement for this loveable fluffball. It meant she could spend time in foster care with the Welfare Manager, who was able to work with Snow daily to enable her to become rehome-ready.

The additional support and guidance of the Welfare Manager also helped her confidence, allowing her to feel more secure.

By December 2025, just over two months after arriving in foster care she was ready for adoption, and has found her forever home where she is now thriving!

Snow has continued to make positive progress in her new home, maintaining the skills learned from her time in foster, and her adopters are providing weekly updates, receiving ongoing support from the centre team.
