COVID-19 info: Our rehoming centres are currently closed to the public but you can still adopt some of our dogs: take a look at their profiles to see which ones. We’ve set up a new rehoming process which includes social distancing measures to help keep staff and adopters safe.

Meet sweet Kaya!

Kaya the German Shepherd

Are you looking for a fur-ever friend and happy to spend time training? Then look no further!

Meet Kaya, she is a Five-month-old German Shepherd, isn’t she gorgeous?!

Kaya is looking for an extra special home who can provide her the time, commitment and training that she needs. She can find the world a bit overwhelming and is under-going training at the centre to help her see all the joys of the world around her.

Kaya will need a patient owner, who has time to focus on her training needs. They will need to be understanding and allow her to develop at her own pace. Kaya will need ongoing training but her new owner will continue to have the support of the centre. She currently knows the basics and is working on her muzzle training, recall and socialisation with other dogs.

Kaya the German Shepherd Antony Dominy, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Newbury, said:

"Kaya would thrive in an active home with owners who love to play with their pet. Kaya loves engaging with people and learning new things. She is a clever girl who thrives on enrichment and training and takes every opportunity as a chance to learn something new. Kaya has so much potential once her confidence is built up some more."

Kaya the German Shepherd Kaya has made some great friends at Dogs Trust Newbury and loves to visit the offices to see all the staff. She is happy meeting new people and although she can be worried, given some time, she soon makes friends.

Kaya will need to be the only pet in her new home and will require quiet areas to walk in. She adores woodland walks where she can get her nose down and explore - even better if she can find a stream or pond to splash about in. Kaya is undergoing training around other dog’s but we cannot guarantee she will ever be fully comfortable with interactions with other dogs.

She could potentially live with children aged 12 years and over who are used to larger breeds and can help with her training.

Kaya the German Shepherd Due to Kaya's training needs, we would like you to talk our training team before meeting her. She is a gorgeous girl with a lot of potential and will make a fantastic companion in the right home. Due to the training support needed Kaya's new home will need to be within half hour of a Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre.
