Come woof come all!

It’s a case of all paws on deck at Dogs Trust Leeds as the team get ready for their annual Summer Fun Day for dog-lovers and their four legged friends on Sunday 5 August.

The annual Fun Day, held at the York Road rehoming centre, raises thousands of pounds each year for the rehoming centre’s homeless hounds and the staff are hoping the sun shines for the doggie day out.

There will be fun and games for all the family and four-legged friends including our  Fun Dog Show, Have-A-Go Agility, Haystack Hurdles, a fun fair  and activities for children, a raffle and auction, a food court and stalls full of delights for four and two-legged friends. Dogs Trust Dog School Leeds will also be on hand to give free advice to dog owners who would like to know more about training their dog.

The Donkey Sanctuary will also be joining in the fun once again along with Knaresbrough Exotic Pet Rescue.

Organiser Sarah Hey, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Leeds, says:

“The Summer Fun Day is our biggest fundraising event of the year and last year we raised an incredible £26,000 which is fantastic.

“On average it costs more than £1,500 to care for each dog we look after and at any one time we can have around 100 dogs so we are really grateful for the support we get at the Fun Day, but all year round too.”

The Summer Fun Day will be held at Dogs Trust Leeds at Woodlands Farm on York Road on Sunday 5 August from 11am. Entry fee is £3 per family.

If you would like to welcome a dog into your home, you can visit the rehoming centre which is open every day except Wednesday. From Friday to Monday it is open 12pm–4pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays it is open 12pm-7.30pm. You can also find out more about any of the dogs waiting for their forever homes at
