One final donation to Dogs Trust.
Remembering Lorraine Walker.
We’re remembering a long-time supporter of Dogs Trust this week who very sadly lost her life whilst out walking her beloved dog recently.
Her daughter Rachael tells us:
“Mum became a supporter of the Dogs Trust after adopting a dog together back in February 2013 from Dogs Trust Leeds. Through adopting Brax the dog, she saw first-hand how adopting a dog from Dogs Trust gave second chances to amazing dogs, who through no fault of their own found themselves without a loving home.
Brax has brought us so much happiness over the 8 years we have owned him jointly. As I work full time and Mum was retired, Brax lived between both homes, sharing the responsibility to give Brax the love and care he very much needed.”
Lorraine also sponsored two dogs through the Dogs Trust Sponsor a dog scheme and looked forward to the monthly updates to show how her sponsorship was helping the two dogs who were in care of Dogs Trust. She even kept their pictures up in the kitchen and referred to them both fondly.
Tragically Lorraine lost her life whilst out doing what she most enjoyed in life, walking Brax.
Dogs Trust Supporter Relations Officer Sarah Hey says:
“We were so sorry to hear of the tragic death of Lorraine and very touched by the generous donation made in her memory. The funds will really help to continue our work rehoming dogs, like Dougie pictured, here in Leeds.”
Through the generosity of friends and family, £4160 was raised in lieu of flowers in memory of Lorraine and this was split between Dogs Trust and Yorkshire Air ambulance.
An In Memory tag has been added to our memorial sculpture in honour of Lorraine’s support.
“The amount raised is a testament to the amazing lady she was. She would be so happy that she was able to give one last donation to Dogs Trust to assist in the amazing work you do for dogs.”
