Leeds Fun Day looks to dog-loving locals

Dogs Trust Leeds ask dog-loving locals to help make Fun Day “paw-fect”.

Staff at Dogs Trust Leeds preparing for their Fun Day

With just a month to go, it’s a case of all paws on deck at Dogs Trust Leeds as the team get ready for their annual Summer Fun Day for dog-lovers and their four legged friends on Sunday 4 August.

The annual Fun Day, held at the York Road rehoming centre, raises thousands of pounds each year for the rehoming centre’s rescue dogs and the staff are hoping the sun shines for the doggie day out. They would also love supporters to pop along to Dogs Trust Leeds before the big day with donations for their raffle and tombola, such as wine and chocolates.

Organiser Sarah Hey, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Leeds, says:

“The Summer Fun Day is our biggest fundraising event of the year and our raffle and tombola are always really popular so if anyone has unwanted Christmas presents hiding at the back of their cupboards, that would be great. Last year because of the incredibly hot weather we weren’t able to hold the full event, so we’re hoping to make up for it this year!

At any one time we look after around 100 dogs so we are really grateful for the support we get at the Fun Day and all year round as it helps us make sure our dogs have everything they need whilst they are with us. It’s a great day out for all dog owners, and dog lovers who don’t have a four-legged friend of their own!”

On the day there will be fun and games for all the family and four-legged friends including the Fun Dog Show, Have-A-Go Agility, Haystack Hurdles, a fun fair and activities for children, an auction, a food court and stalls full of delights. Dogs Trust Dog School Leeds will be on hand to give free advice to dog owners who would like to know more about training their dog and they will also be offering fun interactive games for owners and their dogs.

The Summer Fun Day will be held at Dogs Trust Leeds at Woodlands Farm on York Road on Sunday 4 August from 11am. Entry fee is £3 per family.

If you would like to drop off a donation to help make the fun day a success, please pop along to the Leeds Rehoming Centre.
