Celebrating a decade of helping dogs find their forever homes

Gill Prett is celebrating ten years working at Dogs Trust West London as receptionist. Back in January 2009, Gill joined the Dogs Trust family in Harefield and hasn’t looked back since.

Having lost her beloved Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross called Boo the year before, she was delighted that her new job would mean she would still be surrounded by furry four-legged companions.

She said: “I have always wanted to work in the area of animal welfare, as it is a very strong passion of mine. When I lost Boo it was very difficult and this job meant I could still get my daily dose of doggie cuddles.

She added: “I am also fortunate to occasionally foster some of our dogs, who may need a little time away from kennels, which makes my job even more rewarding. I have no idea where these past ten years have gone, and I can honestly say that working with dogs is a dream come true.”

Dogs Trust West London’s Rehoming Centre Manager Richard Moore: “Gill is an integral part of the team at the centre. For the last decade she has helped to welcome visitors through our doors, consoled those that have sadly had to handover their dogs, and waved off our residents when they find their special someone. We’re so grateful for all that she does!”

Current resident, beautiful Beaney will be celebrating his 10th birthday next week, and is hopeful for the perfect gift of all – a forever home.
