Member of 'paw'-liament meets VIPS (Very Important Pooches) during visit to Dogs Trust West London
Member of Parliament for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, Nick Hurd, visited Dogs Trust West London on Friday (6th September) and was greeted by plenty of waggy tails from dogs looking for new owners.
Mr Hurd was given a tour of the rehoming centre, based in Harefield, and met a number of dogs currently awaiting their forever homes, including Jessie, the senior Bichon Frise who loves a cuddle with everyone she meets.
Following the visit, Dogs Trust West London’s Manager Richard Moore said:
“We were delighted to welcome Nick to our rehoming centre once again. It was great to update him on all the work we have been doing for the dogs in our care over the last year. All the dogs were pleased to see him and were on their best behaviour and had extra waggy tails to welcome Nick back to the centre.
“Like all of us at Dogs Trust, Nick cares passionately about animal welfare and it was a fantastic opportunity to discuss key dog welfare issues that we feel so strongly about, including designer puppy breeds such as French Bulldogs and Pugs being smuggling into Britain from Central and Eastern Europe.”
Nick Hurd MP, commented:
“I really enjoyed my visit to the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Harefield and especially meeting Jessie the Bichon Frise. It is always fantastic to see the wonderful efforts of staff at our local rehoming centre who work so tirelessly to ensure that all of the dogs in their care are incredibly well looked after. Once again, I was impressed by the huge range of facilities available to their canine residents and delighted to learn that they are going above and beyond to rehome so many unwanted dogs in Harefield London.”
