Last month, Emma, Harefield’s Home from Home Co-ordinator hosted a ‘Foster Carer Get Together’ to say a huge thank you for all their love and support in helping dogs in desperate need of a temporary home until they find their fur-ever home.
This gathering not only allowed the foster families to feast on cakes and tea but also to meet other foster families and their foster dogs and for us to show how much we appreciate what they do and how invaluable their help is.
As you can imagine we receive a number of dogs that are just not cut out for kennels – these can be puppies, older dogs, dogs with injuries or medical conditions and of course if we are short on kennel space. Foster carers take dogs into their home on a temporary basis, playing a huge role in a Dogs Trust dog’s life.
We are always in need of new foster carers, Dogs Trust will equip foster families with everything you will need to ensure the dog is happy and healthy such as food, bedding and any medical treatment needed. All foster carers need to do is provide the love and care these dogs so desperately need.
There is no long term commitment and we work very hard to match individual dogs with their foster families to ensure the placement is successful and everyone is happy. We would ideally be looking for foster homes within a 1 hour drive of the Harefield centre (UB9 6JW) and have their own transport.
