Paws up! Dogs Trust Basildon raise over £12k at annual Fun Day

Dogs Trust Basildon is celebrating after yet another successful Fun Day on Sunday 19 May 2019.

After many months of planning and organising, the team were delighted to see so many people at the event at Barleylands Farm Showground to show their support. Organisers estimate more than 3,000 people attended on the day, raising an amazing £12,600 for the charity.

Dogs Trust Basildon’s Supporter Relations Officer Kent Lowe said:

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to the local community and all of the supporters who turned up to help us raise money for the dogs in our care. We’d also like to say a huge thank you to anyone who donated raffle and tombola prizes. Their generosity made a huge contribution to the overall success of the day, allowing us to have another successful Fun Day.

“It was wonderful to see so many people and of course not forgetting all our four-legged-friends who attended — many of which were ex-residents that we were so happy to see doing so well.”

The highlight of the day as ever was the Fun Dog Show. Centre manager and compere for the event Lisa Cooper said:

“The dog show was pawsome this year, with lots of very well behaved dogs showing themselves off. Highlights were the Cutest Couple, Dinky Dogs and Gentle Giants and the Best Trick!”

The Fun Day was sponsored by Earls Hall Vets and supported by St John Ambulance. Other highlights on the day included have-a-go agility, face painting – which was a big hit with the kids – a variety of stalls, a tombola and raffles.

Funds from the Fun Day will go towards helping the rehoming centre to continue providing homeless and abandoned dogs with the best possible care as they await their forever homes.
