Come woof, come all to A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy!
It’s a case of all paws on deck with just one week to go before A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy takes to the streets, parks and shopping centres of South Wales.
After months of planning, colourful Snoopy sculptures are just days away from putting their best paw forward in Cardiff, Porthcawl and Caerphilly.
The free public art trail will see 40 giant Snoopy sculptures on display along with 75 smaller Snoopy sculptures designed by schools across South Wales. The Schools’ Snoopy sculptures have already been unleashed and are lapping up all the love in advance of the main trail going live on Friday (8 April).
The trail will raise money for Dogs Trust, which has rehoming centres in Cardiff and Bridgend, to help the charity continue to care for thousands of dogs every year whilst they wait to find new loving families and homes.
Rebecca Staden, Project Manager of A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy, said:
“After many months of careful planning, we can’t wait to finally give our Snoopy sculptures, large and small, a new leash of life.
“The trail is all about dogs and every penny raised will go to support Dogs Trust, helping make sure the gorgeous dogs in its care can have everything they need and want, from treats to training and comfy beds to one-on-one time with their carers, until it’s time for them to head off to enjoy adventures with their new families.
“We hope friends, families, colleagues, and of course their canine companions, will join in with our trail and have lots of fun along the way.”
The 75 large sculptures have been designed and painted by artists from Wales and across the UK inspired by everything from the Welsh flag, rugby and the Rubix cube to depicting what dogs love to do, and how they feel when they finally find their forever family.
“This is the first ever Snoopy sculpture art trail to be held in the UK and we have heard that some fans are travelling all the way from California and Austria to take part!
“We are really excited that the day has almost arrived when we can share these fantastic sculptures in all their colourful canine glory. Dog-lovers, and Snoopy fans, have until 5 June to enjoy the trail, so, see you there!”
There is A Dog’s Trail app to help people sniff out each sculpture and take advantage of special offers from businesses along the trail. For the duration of the trail there will also be a shop at Mermaid Quay selling everything from Snoopy plush toys and tote bags to dog collar charms and doggie accessories. When the trail ends, the sculptures will be auctioned at a special event to support the work of Dogs Trust.
