Recycling or donating common household items is a great way to raise donations for the dogs in our care. Even better, it can help towards reducing your carbon pawprint.

Here are some simple ways to recycle your unwanted items to help pooches and the planet.

Recycle and help reduce your carbon pawprint

Recycle jewellery, watches and banknotes

With Recyclingforgoodcauses you can recycle your unwanted gold, silver, costume jewellery and watches. They even accept broken and damaged items like odd earrings, snapped chains or items with missing stones.

You can also recycle unwanted banknotes of any age or currency. Simply print off a free postage label and attach it to an envelope (no larger than A5 size) and we’ll receive a donation in return.

Recycle ink cartridges

Recycle4Charity

You can print off a free postage label to send your used printer ink cartridges for recycling in your own envelopes, and we’ll receive a donation when you select us as your chosen charity. They also provide collection boxes free of charge, ideal for offices that use ink cartridges (toner/laser not accepted).

The recycling factory

Seemingly useless things like used ink cartridges can raise money to help us continue our vital work when you select us as your chosen charity through The Recycling Factory.

Order a free collection box and when you've got at least 50 used cartridges, just take it to the post office.

Recycle your old car

GiveACar, the UK’s largest scrap car and vehicle donation service organises the free collection and recycling of any vehicle in the UK.

Cars are either disposed of, the value of the scrap metal is donated or placed into an auction, and the sale price donated.

Recycle your mobile phone, cameras and other gadgets

Have you got old mobile phones and gadgets gathering dust in a drawer? Why not turn them into donations for dogs? Just send them to Recyclingforgoodcauses at the address below (postage costs will apply):

Recycle stamps

Even used stamps can be turned into donations to support or work. All you need to do is carefully cut or rip stamps from used envelopes (be careful not to damage the stamp) and collect them. Once you’ve got enough to fill an envelope, send them to Recyclingforgoodcauses at the address below (postage costs will apply):

Alternatively, stamps can be sent to our London office at 'Re: Stamp donations, Dogs Trust, 17 Wakley Street, London, EC1V 7RQ'.

Recycle clothing, shoes, bric-a-brac, books, CDs, DVDs, and other household items

Give your pre-loved items a second life by donating them to our charity shops! We're always looking for donations of new stock, and the money we raise in our shops helps fund our vital work.
