The Little Dog Laughed
Discover our partnership with The Little Dog Laughed, sharing and creating tales of second chances for dogs.
To mark their 25th anniversary, The Little Dog Laughed partnered with Dogs Trust to create the award-winning book "A Dog’s Life", sharing stories of our rescue dogs. First published in September 2023, the book features 50 original watercolour illustrations by artist and co-founder Anna Danielle, alongside touching tales of dogs who came into our care and have gone on to find their forever homes.
Our work together
Thanks to the support from The Little Dog Laughed, we can continue to take care of dogs in need and help them find their own happily rehomed story. The first print run of the book raised over £22,000 to support our vital work. These funds help us provide the tailored support that every dog in our care needs from healthcare and training to finding them a new home.
The first year of our partnership was a huge success, with "A Dog’s Life" selling out in its first print run and winning Best Charitable Gift at the 2024 Gift of the Year Awards. Due to popular demand, The Little Dog Laughed re-printed "A Dog’s Life" and look forward to raising even more money for dogs in need. Our ongoing partnership highlights how even a small gift can make a big difference to the lives of rescue dogs in need of a loving home.

during the first print run of "A Dog's Life"
The Little Dog Laughed donated £22,257.96 to Dogs Trust during the first print run of "A Dog’s Life" providing a weeks’ worth of life-changing care to 55 dogs in need.

I have seen first-hand the incredible work Dogs Trust does, from rehoming and rehabilitation, offering a free Behaviour Support Helpline for behavioural issues and even supporting families fleeing domestic violence who need temporary shelter for their pet. Dogs Trust is an incredible charity made up of amazing people, all working for the animals that mean so much to so many of us.”

Bailey’s story is just the beginning
Thanks to the generosity of partners like The Little Dog Laughed, we can continue to be there for dogs like Bailey when they need us most.
Picked up as a stray and brought to Dogs Trust Loughborough, our Animal Welfare Scheme Coordinator spotted that tennis ball-loving Bailey had potential to become a service dog. He passed multiple tests and was paired with dog handler, Graham.
Bailey’s resilience and determination to overcome challenges was unmistakable, and his love for life, children and other dogs shows the amazing connections that can be made between dogs and their families. His Dogs Trust journey landed him with a loving home as well as a job in the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and UKISAR, an organisation that travels overseas for humanitarian accidents and disasters). Not all heroes wear capes, but some do wear collars!
Bailey’s story is an amazing example of the potential of our rescue dogs and just one of the 50 stories included in "A Dog’s Life".
