Winchester is a charming city in the county town of Hampshire, once England’s ancient capital. It is located at the western end of the South Downs National Park, along the course of the River Itchen.
Winchester is well known for its medieval Cathedral which holds more than 1000 years of history, together with The Great Hall of Winchester Castle, famous for King Arthurs “Round Table” that hung in the hall from around 1463. The city also hosts an abundance of statues and buildings such as the Guildhall and the City Mill that bring in tourists and visitors keen to experience a city steeped in such important history.
With easy links to London many visitors also embank upon Winchester to enjoy one of the largest farmers market in the UK. Taking place on the second and final Sunday of each month the market offers an array of fine quality food and beverages, with over 80 producers showcasing their goods. From November to the end of December Winchester hosts its very own Christmas Market, inspired by traditional German Markets the pretty wooden chalets, open-air ice rink and unique products attract more than 350,000 visitors each year.
