The town of Deal lies on the English Channel eight miles north-east of Dover and approximately seventeen miles from Canterbury, the location of the rehoming centre the Deal store supports. Deal is an attractive mix of unspoilt seafront, delightful conservation areas, a small fishing fleet and vibrant High Street and shopping area making it one of the gems of the East Kent coast.
Closely associated with Deal is the large mainly residential parish of Walmer where Julius Caesar first arrived in Britain. Deal was named as a "limb" of the Cinque Ports in 1278 and, thanks to its position on "The Downs" safe anchorage, the town was once the busiest port in England.
Today, the quiet seaside resort offers much to enjoy. Two fascinating museums, Henry VIII's Deal and Walmer Castles, Kent's only remaining public pier, a small theatre, plenty of places to wine and dine and, on a fine day, a clear view of the French coast - less than 25 miles away.
Deal won the title of the Daily Telegraph's High Street of the Year 2013 and Best pier in 2008. The bustling town centre is partially pedestrianised and most of the town is on the flat making it ideal for disabled visitors.
The store is prominently situated on the corner of High Street and Queen Street. This is a new and large store that opened in early November 2014. With three huge window display areas to admire, a flair for fashion and an eye for collectibles, the store team looks forward to welcoming you and your dog.
