Are you right for Rocky Husky?

Rocky is a beautiful ten-year-old Husky looking for a loving home with people who enjoy getting out and about, as he loves his walks and exploring the world around him. Rocky is a friendly, gentle soul who instantly wins people over. He greets new visitors calmly and politely and is comfortable in a reasonably busy home environment. He could happily live with sensible teenage children and would thrive with adopters who enjoy having a loyal companion by their side. Rocky is fully housetrained, travels well in the car, and is content to spend a few hours home alone when needed, making him an easy and adaptable companion. His foster carer describes him as: “A friendly, gentle dog who is very relaxed at home and happy simply being around people without constantly seeking attention.” Rocky would prefer to be the only dog in the home so he can enjoy all the love and attention to himself. He is looking for a home without cats or small pets, and because he has a strong prey drive, care should be taken around livestock. A secure garden where he can relax and enjoy some outdoor time would be the perfect bonus for this lovely boy.

Is Rocky Husky right for you?

Rocky is living proof that age is just a number. At ten years old, this wonderful Husky still has the enthusiasm and energy of a much younger dog. He loves his walks, enjoys exploring new places, and is always ready for a game with his favourite toys. Ball games are a particular favourite, and he happily plays fetch when one ball is swapped for another. He also loves chasing squeaky toys and never misses an opportunity for some fun. A true Husky character, Rocky is wonderfully expressive and enjoys "chatting" in his native Husky language. While he prefers peaceful walks in quieter locations rather than busy, crowded areas, he is happy to enjoy the outdoors at his own pace. Rocky doesn't actively seek interaction with other dogs, but he can make canine walking companions when introductions are taken slowly and thoughtfully. Due to his chase instinct, Rocky will need to remain on lead when out and about, although secure enclosed fields provide the perfect opportunity for him to stretch his legs and enjoy a good run. At home, Rocky has a wonderfully relaxed side. He enjoys sitting by the window watching the world go by and loves spending time in his foster carer's garden, whether that's rolling happily in the grass, relaxing beside you while you enjoy a coffee on the patio, or stretching out in a shady spot on a warm day. Independent by nature, Rocky enjoys affection and fuss but is equally content to settle down nearby for a nap. Like most dogs, Rocky is very food-motivated, and with tasty rewards such as cheese, chicken, or sausage, he'll happily show off his impressive repertoire of commands, including sit, wait, paw, and down. If you're looking for a kind-hearted, affectionate companion with a calm nature and plenty of character, Rocky could be the perfect addition to your family.

How our rehoming process works

  1. 1

Create an account and fill out our application form

In our form you can tell us all about your home, your lifestyle and the kind of dogs you’re interested in. You won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can add favourites to give us an idea of the dogs you like. We’ll use this information to find a great match for you.

  2. 2

    Choose a rehoming centre

We’ll also ask you to select a rehoming centre. The team at this centre will look after your application and assess you against all suitable dogs in their care. This doesn’t have to be your nearest centre, but you will need to travel there within a few days once we’ve found you...

    We’ll review your application

We’ll review your application against the dogs in our care at your chosen centre. If we think we have the right dog for you, we’ll be in touch as soon as possible. If we don’t hear back from you, we will close your application for now, and you can reapply when you’re ready.

We’ll keep your application open for three months and keep looking for a match

If we’ve found a dog who seems right for you, we’ll invite you to come and meet them at the rehoming centre.

Some of the dogs in our care will need to meet potential owners several times to get to know one another. This lets us see you’re compatible and gives you the chance to build a bond before making a commitment to give them a new home. By taking some time at the beginning to make sure everyone’s comfortable, an adoption is more likely to be successful.

We may also arrange a home visit with you, to see how your house will be set up and check that the garden (if you have one) is secure. This may not be necessary, though, especially if you’ve adopted from us before. Where you already have dogs, we may accept a reference from your vet as an alternative.

  6. 6

If we haven’t found the right match, we’ll continue the search together

If we haven’t found the right dog for you within three months, we’ll let you know your application is closed. We’ll invite you to apply again so we have up-to-date information about you, and we’ll keep looking.

  7. 7

We’ll support you to embark on a new life with your dog

When we’ve matched you with a dog, we’ll help you welcome them to your home. After adoption we’ll keep in touch to see how you and the dog are doing. If you need any advice or support, we’re just a phone call away. With our free behaviour support, our Canine Care Card and...
