Are you right for Diesel?

Diesel is a bright, bouncy boy who is full of energy and fun, and is looking for an active home that can give him plenty of mental and physical stimulation. He travels well in the car and would thrive in a family who enjoy adventures, long walks, and ongoing training to keep his clever mind busy. He’s a friendly lad who can be a little enthusiastic when meeting new people, so would be best suited to children aged 8+ who are confident around lively dogs. Diesel has lived in a home since he was a puppy but may need a gentle refresher on housetraining, and time left alone should be built up gradually. He knows his basic commands (though recall may need some work!) and enjoys the company of other dogs. He could potentially live with a doggy friend following a successful meet.

Is Diesel right for you?

This dog is currently being rehomed under our Homestay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Homestay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog.

If we’ve found a dog who seems right for you, we’ll invite you to come and meet them at the rehoming centre.

Some of the dogs in our care will need to meet potential owners several times to get to know one another. This lets us see you’re compatible and gives you the chance to build a bond before making a commitment to give them a new home. By taking some time at the beginning to make sure everyone’s comfortable, an adoption is more likely to be successful.

We may also arrange a home visit with you, to see how your house will be set up and check that the garden (if you have one) is secure. This may not be necessary, though, especially if you’ve adopted from us before. Where you already have dogs, we may accept a reference from your vet as an alternative.

If we haven’t found the right match, we’ll continue the search together

If we haven’t found the right dog for you within three months, we’ll let you know your application is closed. We’ll invite you to apply again so we have up-to-date information about you, and we’ll keep looking.

We’ll support you to embark on a new life with your dog

When we’ve matched you with a dog, we’ll help you welcome them to your home. After adoption we’ll keep in touch to see how you and the dog are doing. If you need any advice or support, we’re just a phone call away.
