Jordan Cane races in to visit Dogs Trust Shoreham
Local racing star, Jordan Cane, took time out from his hectic schedule this week to visit Dogs Trust Shoreham’s rescue dogs and meet the dedicated staff helping to rehome them.
At just 14, Jordan is currently the world’s youngest open wheel racing driver, winning 7 races out of 15 in his rookie season last year, with 10 podiums in total. He divides his time between his home in the US and his family home in Felpham, near Bognor where he lives with his family and his own dog, Oakley, who is a one year old Beagle.
This coming season, Jordan is progressing onto the Mazda Road to Indy Series, driving in the USF2000 Championship for Team Pelfrey. His opening season race is in St Petersburg, Florida in two weeks time.
Having grown up with rescue dogs, Jordan and his father, Grant, were keen to show support for Dogs Trust Shoreham, and meet some of the rescue dogs currently looking for homes.
Jordan Cane comments:
“Racing and being schooled now in the US, I am away from home so much and I miss my family during these times, and that includes my dog Oakley who is a massive part of our family. I know how amazing dogs are and was so pleased to be able to visit Dogs Trust Shoreham with my Dad to show our support. The facilities are amazing and all the dogs looked really well cared for. I really hope that anyone considering getting a dog visits Dogs Trust Shoreham!”
Tracey Rae, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Shoreham explains,
“It was lovely to meet Jordan and his Father, Grant. Growing up with dogs is a wonderful experience and Jordan clearly adores his own dog. We have 40 rescue dogs currently looking for homes at Dogs Trust Shoreham, who had his lots of cuddles with Sussex’s own racing star. We wish Jordan all the best for the future!”
