Rescue dogs get ‘paw’litical with pre-Christmas visit from local MP

Rescue dogs and canine carers at Dogs Trust Shoreham received a special visit from their local MP last week (Friday 17 December).

Tim Loughton has been the Member of Parliament for East Worthing and Shoreham since the 1997 election, having grown up in nearby Eastbourne.

He received a tour of the rehoming centre and got to meet some of the four-legged friends who'll be spending Christmas with our dedicated staff.

Dogs Trust Shoreham Assistant Manager, Vicky Grylls, said:

“We were delighted to welcome Tim back to our rehoming centre.

“Of course, like everyone else, we’re very much getting ready for Christmas now and preparing to give all our dogs the best day possible.

“It’s wonderful that Tim shares our passion for dog welfare, and it was a fantastic opportunity to show him the hard work and dedication going on behind the scenes to help our dogs find their forever homes in the New Year.”

Tim has been very supportive of Dogs Trust over the years. In 2017 he attended our Christmas reception held in the House of Commons and visited the centre in April 2018. More recently he has pledged his support to our Puppy Smuggling Taskforce.

Tim Loughton said:

“I really enjoyed visiting Dogs Trust Shoreham and would like to thank the team for spending some time with me and showcasing the amazing work they do.

“It is clear to see how passionate the staff at Dogs Trust are about their work, which really shined through. I look forward to exploring ways in which we can continue to work together in the future.”
