Paw-fect house guest still waiting for forever home after two years

Dogs Trust Merseyside rehoming appeal for Paddy

Dogs Trust Merseyside is appealing for a home for a dog who despite having spent two-thirds of his life in kennels, has proved himself to be the perfect house guest.

This Friday (3 November) will mark two years since Lurcher Paddy arrived at the Huyton rehoming centre when he was just eleven months old. Although the team thought they would be waving a fond farewell to him within days, an astonishing 700 days later he is still waiting.

Paddy has seen over 1,700 of his doggie pals head off to their forever homes so to give Paddy a change of scene whilst he waits for his special someone, Canine Carer Robyn Hague has been taking him home for sleepovers – and he’s proved to be the perfect house guest and a lover of his home comforts!

Robyn says:

“He is lovely and lively but when I take him home he’s incredibly relaxed and just slips straight back into enjoying his home comforts! He pops up on the sofa, happy to watch what’s going on and then with a contented sigh falls asleep! Gorgeous!”

Paddy was a much-loved dog and found himself without a home after his owner unfortunately became ill and could no longer give him the love and attention he needed.

He is now looking for a family who love getting out and about as much as he does but who have enough room on the sofa for him when it’s time for cuddles. He could live with children aged 13 and over but would like to be the only dog in the home, although he enjoys the company of his canine companions when he’s out and about.

Robyn says:

“It really is a mystery as to why someone hasn’t fallen for him in the two years he has been here. Thousands of people have visited the centre but for some reason haven’t felt he’s the one for them. Hopefully his luck is about to change and he’ll be settled into family life in time for Christmas.”

If you think you can offer Paddy the home he deserves, please contact the team at Dogs Trust Merseyside on 0300 303 0292 or visit the centre at Whiston Lane, Liverpool, L36 6HP. It is open 12pm-4pm, every day except Wednesday when it is closed. You can also find out more at www.dogstrust.org.uk
