Old dogs seek new digs

Dogs Trust Merseyside is seeking a new home for two inseparable Older Age Pooches (OAPs) who are in need of a sofa made for two.

Ten-year-olds Gypsy and Bonnie have lived together for the last six years but through no fault of their own have found themselves having to leave behind everything they’ve ever known.

Now the team at the Huyton-based rehoming centre are hoping that it won’t be too long before they are waving a fond farewell to the doggie duo.

Georgina Lowery, Manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, says:

“They are a lovely pair and if you see one, the other is never far behind. Bonnie had a very difficult start to life as she had several homes as a young dog but she has definitely found her paws living alongside Gypsy.

“Unfortunately they have come to us following a change in their family’s circumstances. Understandably they are both quite timid at the moment as they have been through so much change so it would be great if we could find them a new home really soon.”

Border Collie Cross Gypsy likes to take her time to get to know new people but the way to her heart is a few foodie treats which will be a great way for new owners to teach this clever older dog a few new tricks.

Crossbreed Bonnie is very playful and loves to be around people so she would suit a household with a few two-legged friends. They can live with children aged around twelve and over but would like their new family to be around a lot of the time.

Georgina says:

“We are certain that once they have had the chance to settle in their new home they will make lovely companions for a lucky owner. They are happiest when they are together so we would love to find them a home where they can spend their twilight years whiling away the hours in the company of a new family and snoozing on the sofa.”

If you think you could give Gypsy and Bonnie the loving home they deserve, please call 0300 303 0292 or visit Dogs Trust Merseyside at Whiston Lane, Liverpool, L36 6HP. It is open 12pm-4pm, every day except Wednesday when it is closed. You can also find out more at www.dogstrust.org.uk
