Dogs Trust

It was all about the dogs - and their owners!

A family and their four-legged friend are celebrating after winning Best in Show at Dogs Trust Merseyside's Summer Fun Day.

Almost 300 dogs took part in classes throughout the day including "Waggiest Tale" and "Cutest Pup." Having won "Best Child Handler," Anya Savage and Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Kia, from Ashton-in-Makerfield went on to the final and came away with the Best in Show rosette and goodies.

The annual fun day, held at Inglenook Farm in Saint Helens, raised more than £10,000 which will all go towards helping make sure the homeless hounds at Dogs Trust Merseyside have everything they need whilst they are waiting for their forever homes.

Aimee Best, Supporter Relations Officer and organiser of the event said:

"It was a fantastic day and the fun dog show classes were busy throughout the day. It was great to see so many dogs and owners having fun!

"I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone that came along to support us and congratulations to Anya and Kia who obviously have a fantastic relationship!"
