Rufus the long-term rescue dog is looking for lasting love this Valentine’s Day

The team at Dogs Trust Merseyside are hoping one of their long-stay residents will finally be lucky in love this Valentine’s Day.

Crossbreed Rufus originally arrived at Dogs Trust in 2014 and although he has stolen the hearts of visitors to the Huyton-based rehoming centre, he is still waiting to find long-term love with a forever family.

Six-year-old Rufus is a loving, loyal dog but he doesn’t like to be left home alone so he needs a family that will be around most of the time, and that’s proving hard to find.

Georgina Lowery, Dogs Trust Merseyside Manager, says:

“Rufus is an adorable boy, a real character, but he really doesn’t like to be left on his own so we are looking for a family for him where he can constantly be by their side. Somebody that works from home or a family that does shift work would be ideal.

“He really is lovely, it’s just a case of finding his perfect match when it comes to his two-legged friends.”

As well as loving being at home with his family, Rufus is an ideal canine companion for an active family as he enjoys getting out and about and heading off on an adventure. He would like to be the only dog in the home so he can lap up all the love but he’s happy to have some doggie walking friends.

Georgina says:

“Rufus has a fantastic character and just loves life. He is a joy to be around and we are really hoping that this Valentine’s Day he will finally be lucky in love. He really deserves to find his ideal family. He has a lot of love to give and he’ll be a gorgeous addition to the right family.”
