COVID-19 info: Our rehoming centres are currently closed to the public but you can still adopt some of our dogs: take a look at their profiles to see which ones. We’ve set up a new rehoming process which includes social distancing measures to help keep staff and adopters safe.

Quiet area opened in memory of volunteer

Merseyside Gazebo

Dogs Trust Merseyside has opened a new quiet area for the dogs in memory of volunteer Robert Ambrose.

Liz and Robert Ambrose have been volunteering at the Merseyside centre for many years, Liz is here most weeks and then with Robert at weekends. Sadly, Robert passed away very suddenly, and Liz has kindly donated a new gazebo to our centre in his memory.

The gazebo provides a quiet place for people and the dogs to sit and watch the comings and goings at the centre, and is of great benefit to some of our more nervous dogs. Liz officially cut the ribbon earlier this month, in her husband’s memory.

Liz and Rob have both fostered and adopted dogs from Dogs Trust Merseyside in the past, and Liz even dog-sits for one of her past charges, such is her dedication.

The staff are very grateful to the Ambroses for all they have given us, and Liz continues to be a weekly volunteer.
