Tan-tastic pooches take Dogs Trust Manchester by storm!

The long days of summer may be some time off yet, but under grey wintery skies Dogs Trust Manchester is caring for more tan-tastic homeless hounds than ever before.

First to arrive was 15-year-old Jack Russell Jake followed by Crossbreed Skye, three-year-old Mastiff Cross, Jax, Crossbreed Nala, Staffordshire Bull Terrier Bailey, German Shepherd Cross Macey, Labrador Cross Larry and Staffordshire Bull Terrier Lola.

Although they brighten the days of the team at the Denton-based rehoming centre, Manager Dawn Bishop is hoping that they will all be settled in their forever homes whilst we are still in the grip of winter.

She says:

“We are used to getting black and white collies or chocolate Labradors, but we can’t ever remember looking after so many gorgeous tan dogs at the same time.

“Some look like they will be heading home to their forever families soon but we’re hoping that good luck will shine down on all of them and they will all find their special someone.”

Jake, the oldest and smallest of the group, is one of those still waiting for someone to fall in love with him. He was sadly found as a stray, but despite what he’s been through he still loves to play, especially with squeaky toys and would be happy to share his home with young people over the age of 16.

At the other end of the size spectrum is ten-year-old German Shepherd Cross Macey who has lived in the same home since being a puppy but has found herself homeless after a change in family circumstances, and 14 month old Mastiff Cross Nala is looking for a home with patient owners who will help her find her paws as she can initially be nervous around new people.

Dawn says:

“They might be similar in colour but when it comes to personality, their individual needs, and the types of home they are looking for, they are all very different so there is something for every dog lover!

“It would be wonderful if they all found their forever homes whilst there was still a chill in the air and the chance to enjoy frosty walks followed by a sleep in front of the fire on a comfy sofa, dreaming of the fun in the sun they are going to have with their new families this summer.”
