Dogs Trust Manchester appeals for donations to make fun day “paw-fect”

Dogs Trust Manchester is hoping dog-loving locals come to its rescue and donate everything from chocolates to experience days and long-forgotten unwanted Christmas presents for its Summer Fun Day.

Despite the sun not having shined too much so far this year, the team’s eyes are firmly set on making their Summer Fun Day on Sunday 26 July, a fantastic event. But to make that happen they are in desperate need of donations of goodies and gifts.

Lucy Marsh, Supporter Relations Officer at the Denton-based rehoming centre, says:

“We have had incredible support since opening last October and as we don’t receive any government funding, we rely on people’s generosity to help us raise as much money as possible to look after the dogs in our care.

“We are hoping to raise thousands at our Summer Fun Day but to help us do that we need great prizes for our raffle and tombola. It is a case of the more varied the better! New toys for children and toiletry sets for adults always go down well, as do things that most of us love such as chocolates and wine. We would also love businesses to donate experiences such as theatre tickets and spa days.

“We have rehomed more than 700 dogs so far and every penny raised goes to making sure the dogs have the best lives possible with us whilst they are waiting for their forever homes. Anything people can donate will be really appreciated!”

The Summer Fun Day is at Heaton Park on Sunday 26 July, 11am-4pm. There will be fun and games for all the family and four-legged friends including fun dog show competitions, Have-a go-Agility, a sponsored Waggy Walk, games and activities for children and more than thirty stalls full of delights for four-legged and two-legged friends.

If you are able to donate something please pop along to the rehoming centre on Parkway, Denton, M34 3SG. The centre is open 12pm-7.30pm during the week, other than Wednesday when it is closed, and 10am-4pm at the weekend. Alternatively, please call Lucy on 0161 337 3615.
