3,000 homeless hounds find their forever homes
This month we are celebrating finding 3,000 of our dogs their forever homes since we opened in October 2014.
That is an incredible number of dogs who have headed off to enjoy new adventures with their new families – on average, two every day!
Taking the 3,000th accolade is four-year-old Dachshund Cross Blossom, who found herself homeless after a change in her owners’ work commitments. She had been with her family since being eight weeks old but she has coped really well with the change in her life and is now happily settling into her new home.
The joy of seeing our lovely dogs leave Dogs Trust Manchester never fades and we want them all to find their perfect partners as quickly as possible. At the moment we have 41 dogs hoping that they are the ones we are waving goodbye to soon!
One of those dogs is Butch, a nine-year-old easy going Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is enjoying his home comforts in a foster home, but he has his paws crossed in the hope that he will find his forever home soon.
Butch adores cuddles and thinks he’s a lap dog - he sits on your knee at every opportunity and leans against you for a back scratch, making sure you’re doing it exactly in the right spot!
Although he’s an older gent he can be quite giddy and could live with sensible children over the age of eight. He would like to be the only dog in the home and doesn’t want to share his home with a cat. He would like to live in a home where people are around most of the day but he is happy to snooze a few hours away on his own and will always show he is happy to see his owners – his whole back end waggles when he’s happy!
