One year on and Oliver is still waiting for his forever home
We are really hoping that it’s a case of new year, new home for one of our longer-term dogs, Collie Cross Oliver.
Oliver originally arrived at Dogs Trust Manchester this time last year after a change in his family’s circumstances, and sadly he is still to find his ideal home.
But whilst he’s waiting for his special someone to fall in love with him, two of our canine carers Danny Herrington and Cameron Chatton decided he deserved a change of scenery, so they took him to the Peak District for a fantastic day out.
Oliver absolutely loved it and although he’s ten, he had no problem hiking up Kinder Scout and enjoying the view. He couldn’t have been happier and we’re hoping that it won’t be long before days out like this are the norm for this lovely boy.
He is a very handsome boy but he’s looking for a special home of his own where he can relax and fulfil his potential. As well as enjoying walking adventures and a game of fetch whenever it’s on offer, he loves to keep his brain busy and is definitely proof that you can teach an older dog new tricks as he is super clever and picks up new things really quickly.
He is a very affectionate boy too but he likes to take his time to get to know you, so he’s looking for a quieter adult-only home with few visitors as he can be wary of meeting new people.
Also, like many Collies, he doesn’t like traffic noise so he needs a home away from busy roads where he can be walked in quieter areas. We have found that he is more than happy to walk with dogs he knows but he sometimes barks at dogs he doesn’t know, although he is easily distracted with a tasty treat! He has previously lived with a cat so he could potentially have a feline friend in his new home and he’d love a garden to relax in.
