Can popular baby names help furry friends find homes?

As Olivia and Oliver take the top spots as the UKs most popular baby names for the second year running, Dogs Trust Kenilworth is hoping this will help two of their long term doggy residents find homes.

Lurchers, eight-year-old Olivia and seven-year-old Oliver have collectively been at the Honiley rehoming centre for 19 months but so far, have yet to find forever homes. Now staff are hoping that the popularity of their human counterparts’ names will help to shine a light on them and mean loving new owners will come forward to offer them a home.

Emma Healey, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, said:

“Oliver and Olivia are real sweethearts but sadly they are yet to find loving new homes. We really hope the fact that their names are so popular in the human world helps them to catch the eye of potential adopters who want a trendy human moniker for their four-legged friend.

“Both dogs are such sweethearts who are looking for slightly different homes. Olivia is a real foodie and enjoys interactive games where she can search for tasty treats which will be a great aid when practising her training. She’s looking for an adult-only, pet-free home where she can curl up on a nice big comfy bed after playing with her toys.

“Oliver is looking for a fairly quiet home with patient new owners who will give him plenty of time to get used to his new environment. He loves his toys and like Olivia will do anything for a treat! He cannot live with another dog, but he could live with children older than 12 years so once he’s settled will make a great family pet.”

If you can offer either Olivia or Oliver a loving home, please call Dogs Trust Kenilworth on 0300 303 0292.
