Harrier hounds who have spent five years in kennels hope to sniff out special someone
Dogs Trust Kenilworth are searching for homes for six dogs of the same breed who between them have spent exactly five years in kennels.
From long-term resident four-year-old Gunner to new arrivals Esme and Isla, the team are hoping that it won’t be too much longer before they all find their ideal homes.
Emma Healey, Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, says:
“We are asking dog-lovers who want a lively, intelligent dog in their lives to consider adopting one of our Harriers.
“From sweet, sensitive Fern who came to us last spring and who is the youngest at just one, to Esme and Isla who are the oldest at six and arrived at the start of the year, they all deserve great homes with families who will love them for who they are.”
Harriers are hounds so they love to be on the go and the super six will all need secure gardens in their new homes where they can have lots of fun, particularly playing scent games, when they’ve returned from their adventures. They would also all like their new owners to be around most of the time, especially whilst they settle in as they don’t like to be left home alone. Most would be happy to share their new homes with teenagers and other dogs, although Isla and Bailey would like to be the only dogs in their forever homes so they can lap up all the love.
“They are all similar in some ways but have their own individual characters too. Bailey, for instance, absolutely loves his toys more than anything and can often be found entertaining himself in his kennel, whereas Gunner is always on the lookout for fun with another dog who is as lively as him.
“Between them they have spent 1,825 days at Dogs Trust and although we love looking after them, we would be very happy to be waving a fond farewell to them, knowing they have all found their perfect families.”
