Jane Hirons & Helen Barlow – Kenilworth Supporter Relations Officers
Helen Barlow and Jane Hirons cover Kenilworth and the surrounding areas
Jane has worked for Dogs Trust since 1993 and became the first Supporter Relations Officer (SRO) at the Kenilworth Rehoming Centre in 2002. Helen has worked for Dogs Trust since 2004 and in 2008 joined Jane as one of the SROs at Kenilworth. The role is very varied and no two days are the same.
They offer free talks to community groups and also organise tours of the rehoming centre, as well as dealing with all the local enquiries about donations in memory of a loved one. They can also talk to you about the Canine Care Card Scheme and answer any legacy enquiries.
The annual Fun Day is also their responsibility and they help with the social media coverage for the rehoming centre too!
Between them they have five dogs, including two Pug types and a Dogue de Bordeaux! The things they love most about the job are meeting people, going out and doing events and talks; as well as having lots of cuddles with the dogs of course. They have similar hobbies, including spending time with their families - usually outside getting muddy! Finally, a little known fact about Jane is that she once appeared as Prince Charming in a pantomime in aid of Dogs Trust (photos withheld!) and Helen has run the London Marathon also in aid of Dogs Trust!
If you would like any information about booking a talk or tour for your community group or are enquiring about the Canine Care Card Scheme or legacies, then please don’t hesitate to call them on 01926 486010 or email them at [email protected] or [email protected]
