Member of 'paw'liament meets VIPS (Very Important Pooches) during visit to Dogs Trust Ilfracombe

Member of Parliament for North Devon, Selaine Saxby, visited Dogs Trust Ilfracombe last week (Friday 21st May) and was greeted by wagging tails from dogs looking for new owners.

Ms Saxby was given a tour of the rehoming centre, and met a number of dogs currently awaiting their forever homes, including Viola, the retired greyhound.

Following the visit,  Rehoming Centre Assistant Manager, Rogan Quinn, said:

“We were delighted to welcome Selaine to our rehoming centre to show her the work we do for the dogs in our care. Like all of us at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, it is wonderful that Selaine also cares so deeply about animal welfare and it was a fantastic opportunity to show her the hard work and dedication that goes on behind the scenes to prepare dogs for their forever homes.”

Selaine Saxby MP, commented:

“I really enjoyed visiting Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, and it is fantastic to see how hard the staff work to ensure that all of the dogs in their care are incredibly well looked after. I was impressed by the passion and enthusiasm that Dogs Trust staff have for the well-being of their canine residents and the way they go above and beyond to rehome so many unwanted dogs across North Devon.”

Dogs Trust Ilfracombe is closed to the public for general browsing and rehoming is being carried out virtually. For more information visit https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/rehoming
