Spreading the Canine Care Card message

One of my roles as Supporter Relations Officer is to help spread the word about our Canine Care Card scheme. This is a free service we offer to all dog owners who sign up, whereby, in the event of their death, we will look after their dog until a loving new home is found for them.

Yesterday, I took to the Devonshire roads to help highlight the service to our supporters – and what better place to go in the beautiful, wintry sunshine, than the English Riviera!

I started off at Drakes of Torbay Funeral Directors, who had kindly invited me to use their window display area to promote the worthwhile scheme. If you are passing their Hele Road branch in Torquay, please feel free to stop by and take a look. You can also pick up your Canine Care Card application form from inside their welcoming office.

I then visited various dog groomers and pet shops in and around Torquay to drop off Canine Care Card posters and materials. All the staff I met were very friendly and happy to display the information for their customers. Of course, it was also an opportunity for me to receive lots of lovely dog cuddles (it’s a welcome occupational hazard!). For example, at one workplace, I had the pleasure of meeting beautiful rescue dog, Blossom, as well as little Lily and Ralphie, the Chihuahuas (see photo).

Aside from highlighting the Canine Care Card to local businesses, a visit to Torbay wouldn’t be complete without a Riviera walk – and it seemed every other dog walker had the same idea! I spoke to lots of people along the way and it was lovely to meet so many Dogs Trust supporters. It’s because of our supporters, like you, that we are able to continue our work, caring for the many stray and abandoned dogs that come through our rehoming centre’s doors – so a big THANK YOU to all.

If you are a dog owner, or a business, that would like further information on our Canine Care Card, please feel free to contact me, Amy Bingham, by phoning 01271 817716 or emailing [email protected].
