We really do have incredible volunteers and supporters – from those who help out at our Ilfracombe rehoming centre, or maybe do vital fundraising, to those who act as foster carers for some of our more vulnerable pooches. However, there are also some supporters who take it upon themselves to do more than one of these things – at the same time!
Take, for example, Richard and Louise Hallt in Barnstaple. Louise has been foster caring for us, as part of our Home from Home Scheme, since August 2016. Earlier this year, she and her husband cared for their tenth dog on our behalf. Therefore, the couple decided to mark the occasion by tying it in with some fundraising – 10 miles worth to be precise!
With Richard already signed up for the Great South Run in Portsmouth, the ten-mile route was the perfect opportunity to highlight the ten-dog milestone. So, last month, he donned a bright yellow Dogs Trust vest at the event, running a personal best, whilst also raising an amazing £258.75 for the charity!
Thanks to supporters like Richard and Louise, we can use donations to help care for the many stray and abandoned dogs that come to us. If you have also fundraised for us in the past, or perhaps you are planning something over the festive period, thank you. It really is greatly appreciated and makes such a huge difference.
As for Louise and Richard’s foster caring? Well, with the help of their own rescue dogs, Charlie and Rollo, they continue to offer a little ‘foster heaven’, and are now onto doggie number 13!
