Annual dog fun day to raise "fun"ds for rescue pooches

The team at Dogs Trust Glasgow is looking forward to the rehoming centre’s annual Fun Day which will put waggy tails on plenty of Dogs Trust residents. Each year the event sets out to raise money in support of rescue dogs, which goes towards providing them with all their home comforts while waiting on permanent homes.

The Fun Day takes place on Sunday 9th June at Chatelherault Country Park in Hamilton, between 12.00pm-4.00pm. Entry is £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for children (free to under 5’s), and there will be on-site parking available. The team are also on the lookout for donations of raffle and tombola prizes.

Dogs Trust Glasgow Supporter Relations Officer Emma-Louise Livingstone, said:

“We’re looking forward to welcoming lots of supporters and local dog lovers on the day, and we will once again be holding the popular All-Day Dog Show with classes running throughout the afternoon. One resident, who would love to attend Fun Day with her forever family, is Sprite, the three-year-old Lurcher, who is as smart as a ‘Whip’pet. Canine carers are hoping she will find her forever home in time for this year’s Fun Dog Show, as she has been pulling out the stops to show off her skills on the agility course.

“This year we will also be having a reunion of our past residents, who have gone on to find their forever homes. All ex-Dogs Trust residents in attendance will be offered a yellow ribbon to wear at the event, in honour of their time as part of Dogs Trust’s family."

Sprite would love to find a family that will keep her physically and mentally active. She can live with children over the age of 16 years old and would prefer to be the only pet. She is happy to be left for a couple of hours as long as she has had some exercise beforehand and is fully housetrained.

Emma continues:

“Every penny we raise goes towards the continued care and enrichment of the 120 dogs at the Rehoming Centre, which is why it is important that we make Fun Day the best event it can be.”

“We are still on the look out for prize donations, so if anyone is interested in giving to the cause, please do get in touch and all support is very much appreciated. The annual Fun Day is a great day out for all the family and there is always lots of activities to enjoy, including the Doggy Game Zone, have a go agility and a Doggy Dash.”

“There are still limited spaces available for trade or craft stalls at this year’s event so interested parties should get in touch to fill out an enquiry form.”
