Dogs Trust Darlington appeals for donations to make special day 'paw-fect'
Dogs Trust Darlington is counting down to its Summer Fun Day and it's hoping dog-loving locals come to its rescue as they are in desperate need of donations.
The team need everything from chocolates and toys to experience days and long-forgotten unwanted Christmas presents for the big day on 17 July at South Park.
Sue Embleton, Rehoming Centre Manager, said:
“We are always amazed at the support we get and the donations people give us for our tombola and raffle help us raise hundreds of pounds. It’s a case of the more varied the donations the better! New toys for the children and toiletry sets for adults always go down well, as do things that most of us love such as chocolates and wine. We would also love businesses to donate experiences such as theatre tickets and spa days.
“More than 1,100 homeless dogs were cared for at Darlington last year and every penny raised goes to making sure the dogs have the best lives possible whilst they are waiting for their forever homes. Last year we raised over £7,000 at the Fun Day so if we can beat that this year, that would be wonderful.”
The Summer Fun Day is on Sunday 17th July at South Park, Darlington, 12pm-4pm. There will be fun and games for all the family and four-legged friends including a rehoming parade putting pooches from the centre who are looking for their forever homes in the spotlight, a fun dog show for everyone to take part in, a doggy dash as well as stalls full of delights for four-legged and two-legged friends.
If you are able to donate something please pop along to the rehoming centre at Hill House Farm, Sadberge, DL2 1SL. It is open Friday-Tuesday 12pm-4pm, closed Wednesdays and open on Thursday 12pm-7pm.
