Dogs Trust

UPDATE: Our rehoming centres are closed until further notice, however we are now able to rehome a small number of our amazing dogs. Each dog’s profile will let you know if they are looking for a new home. For the time-being, we are unable to register your interest for dogs who are not yet available for rehoming.

Annual dog fun day to raise 'fun'ds for local rescue pooches

The team at Dogs Trust Darlington is looking forward to the rehoming centre’s annual Fun Day which will put waggy tails on plenty of Dogs Trust residents. Each year the event sets out to raise money in support of rescue dogs, which goes towards providing them with all their home comforts while waiting on permanent homes.

The Fun Day takes place on Sunday 14th July at South Park, Victoria Embankment, Darlington, between 12.00pm-4.00pm. There is no entry fee and there is plenty to do for all the family, including your own pooch!

Dogs Trust Darlington Supporter Relations Officer Gordon Norrie, said:

“We’re looking forward to welcoming lots of supporters and local dog lovers on the day, and we will once again be holding the popular Fun Dog Show with classes running throughout the afternoon. One resident, who would love to attend Fun Day with his forever family, is Hector, the five-year-old Lurcher, who is as smart as a ‘Whip’pet. Canine carers are hoping he will find his forever home in time for this year’s Fun Dog Show."

Hector would love to find a family that will keep him physically and mentally active. He can live with children over the age of 11 years old and would prefer to be the only pet. Although he couldn’t be left on his own initially, once he has fully settled into his new home Hector is happy to be left for a couple of hours, as long as he has had some exercise beforehand.

Gordon continues:

“Every penny we raise goes towards the continued care and enrichment of the dogs at the Rehoming Centre, which is why it is important that we make Fun Day the best event it can be.”

“We are still on the lookout for prize donations, so if anyone is interested in giving to the cause, please do get in touch and all support is very much appreciated. The annual Fun Day is a great day out for all the family and there is always lots of activities to enjoy, including the Doggy Game Zone, Bobbing for Balls and a Doggy Dash.”
