Dogs Trust Darlington staff and volunteers Toni, Paul, Gemma, Blain, Natalie, Stacey & Seonaid have been working hard training for the 2017 Great North Run for a long time. Their experience ranged from a first time at the event to this being the sixth time. During an average eight hour working day our canine carers can easily cover the distance of the Great North Run, however they stepped up their pace and fitness levels in order to be able to run rather than walk the distance.
They all did amazingly well on Sunday; the sun was shining, the temperature not too warm and for most of the time the rain stayed away. Everyone had a great time and we have received lots of donations for the centre which will be used directly towards the care of our dogs.
A big thank you goes out to everyone who ran in support of Dogs Trust we really do appreciate it. We are also sending a huge well done to the supporters who were cheering the staff and volunteers along the route they really helped to keep everyone’s motivation levels high.
If you have been inspired to take part in this world class race details of how to take part in fund raising events can be found here.
