Three legged Bobby is “hopping” to find his Furever Home
Dogs Trust Darlington’s Dog of the Month
Dogs Trust Darlington’s Bobby is a very handsome three year old collie cross who happens to be a little bit shy when introduced to new people. Bobby needed to have his rear right leg amputated in 2016 due to having a long standing fracture. Having three legs doesn’t hold him back at all however. He really enjoys play time with his doggy pals and would need a new home that already has a confident dog living there.
Three legged dogs can do all the things that their four legged friends can and enjoy life just the same.
Owners would need to take into consideration a few things to ensure Bobby stays healthy, for example:
- Maintain a healthy diet and weight as Bobby only has 3 legs to distribute his weight on
- Short and frequent exercise to keep him physically fit
- Raise water and feeding bowls so that they are easier for him to reach
- Cover any slippery surfaces in the home with a rug
Bobby may be shy and take a little longer to get to know people, but once he does he’ll make a great friend. He’s a beautiful dog and full of life; Bobby is happiest when he's around other dogs, hence needing to live with an existing confident dog in his new home. Bobby can live with children aged 16 and over and is looking for a patient family that will allow him the time he needs to settle into their home.
Bobby is just one of many dogs currently looking for a home at the centre; we have an amazing selection of shapes, sizes, ages and breeds that are looking for a wide variety of homes.
