Great North Dog Walk 2018
The Great North Dog Walk first took place in 1990 and has been held annually ever since. The three mile circular walk took place in South Shields and the route took in part of our stunning north east coastline. This year Dogs Trust was the official partner for the event.
Dogs Trust Darlington staff Sarah, Paul, Beth, Gordon and Leigh were joined by volunteers Sue, Ailsa, Derek and Sue. Russell and the team from Head Office were also there along with Dog School Darlington. Dogs from the Darlington Rehoming Centre Jack, Halo, Freddie, Walter & Asia all went along too and had a fab time. They took part and really enjoyed completing the walk although Freddie did have a cheeky little carry from our vet nurse half way around when he got a little bit tired.
Last year 30,114 dogs took part representing 185 different breeds. The walk is a fundraising event and dogs taking part were supporting a range of charities including Dogs Trust. People and dogs who had signed up with Dogs Trust for the walk received a personalised t-shirt or running vest, a fund raising guide, access to Dogs Trust promotional items including - collection box, banner and stickers and fund support from the Community Fund Raising team.
The weather was not the best but all in all it was a great day and much appreciated funds were raised for many charities including Dogs Trust. Dogs and their humans all had a great time. If you missed it this year be sure to mark it in your calendar for next year. A big thank you goes out to all the dogs and their families for their kindness and support!
