Dogs Trust Darlington Judges at Lanchester Show

On Sunday 1st July staff and volunteers from Dogs Trust Darlington attended Lanchester Show and were honoured to be asked to judge the show classes. Centre manager Sue Embleton and Volunteer Coordinator Leigh were accompanied by volunteers Soren and Bill.

The agricultural show has been running for 66 years and this was the third year that the Fun Dog Show had been held. There were two trophies up for grabs; Show Champion and a new trophy for the Veteran Dog class. Rosettes were given for winners in all of the classes along with doggy treats.

The 12 show classes were; Cutest Puppy, Prettiest Bitch, Handsomest Dog, Waggiest Tail, Craziest Hair, Best Rescue, Dog Most like its Owner, Golden Oldie, Best Crossbreed, My Dogs Got Talent, Fancy Dress, Best of the rest. So as you can see there was something for all.

There were lots of other things to see and do including a ferret show, show jumping, small pets and a heavy horse show. There were also fairground rides, lots of children’s entertainers and a mobile town farm. In fact lots to see and do for everyone.

Volunteer photographer Søren said “We had a very busy day judging 12 fun classes of dogs, it was a real challenge as there were so many wonderful dogs it made making a decision really difficult. There were some great stories behind some of them including one rescue dog that had a remarkable story of overcoming adversity and enjoying life again in his new home.”
