Bruno's Well Deserved Happy Ever After

German Shepherd Labrador Cross Bruno is off to his forever home!

Bruno the German Shepherd Labrador Cross going to his forever home

Have you ever wondered what a happy dog looks like? Well we are sure you would agree from the photograph above that Bruno certainly is one very happy lad.

Bruno is a 10-year-old German Shepherd cross Labrador who was handed over to the local authorities in Ireland last year after he had been found living outside in a garden.  Dogs Trust Darlington was able to offer to care for him and from there his quest to find a new home began.  Bruno arrived at the rehoming centre in May 2018 and after seeing the vet and being assessed, he patiently waited for a new family to come along.  After a little while Natalie our Home from Home Coordinator found a foster home for Bruno where he could relax and benefit from a little extra “TLC”.  Bruno soon settled into his foster home and forged a firm bond with his foster carers.  During his time with them Bruno enjoyed a family Christmas, went out on lots of walks, had trips out to a doggy adventure playground and also went for a swim at a hydrotherapy centre.

After spending 295 days in the care of Dogs Trust, 159 of which were with his foster family, Bruno got the happy ever after he so deserved.  His foster carers had become very attached to him and decided that they couldn’t imagine life without this lovely lad.  So at the weekend his foster parents became his adoptive family and Bruno joined them as a permanent member of the family.

Seeing dogs that have had a longer stay than average at the centre is always a very rewarding part of working at Dogs Trust Darlington.  It is fair to say that his adoption was the big highlight of the weekend for everyone at the centre who has cared for him during his stay.  We are so pleased that he has found his “Forever Home” and wish Bruno and his family many years of fun, adventures and happiness together.
