You’d be barking mad to miss doggy fun day!
Dogs and their owners are invited to Dogs Trust Canterbury’s Fun Day, taking place on Sunday 14th July 2019.
After a year off in 2018 due to the rebuilding work going on at the rehoming centre, the annual fundraising extravaganza is back for 2019 and bigger than ever. This year’s event will be held at the Faversham Showground on Staplestreet Road near Faversham from 11.30am to 4.00pm. Entrance is just £2 for adults and £1 for children – under 5s, seniors and dogs go free!
The Fun Day promises lots of fun for the whole family, with a variety of attractions and activities including a Fun Dog Show where participants compete to be top dog in a range of classes from Marvelous Miniatures and Golden Oldies to Best Biscuit Catcher and Waggiest Tail.
There will also be ‘Have A Go’ agility activities, doggy dash, kids’ rides and the chance to win prizes on the raffle and tombolas, alongside games for two and four-legged visitors and plenty of refreshments. The Fun Day will also host a variety of stalls where you can buy Dogs Trust merchandise, arts and crafts and gifts for dogs and people.
Dogs Trust Canterbury Supporter Relations Officer, Lara Murphy, said:
“This is our first Fun Day since 2017 and we are very excited to be back and in a new bigger venue.
“We look forward to welcoming the local community and our supporters along with their four-legged friends to join us on the day. We can promise you a really fun day out for all the family, with lots of activities throughout the day.
“Everything we do is for our rescue dogs and our Fun Day will help us to raise pounds for the hounds in our care. Proceeds from the day will be used to care for dogs like Bambi, currently staying at the Rehoming Centre.”
Bambi is a sweet, 6-year-old lurcher looking for her forever home. She loves to play with her toys, particularly fluffy teddies, and is very food-driven which helps with her training – although she will help herself given the chance! Bambi enjoys a gentle fuss and will make a lovely companion once she is settled. She could live with another calm dog and children over 14 years old, and will need new owners who are patient and willing to dedicate the time required to help her settle into home life.
The Dogs Trust team would be grateful for any donations for the raffles and tombola such as vouchers, unopened gift sets, wine, bubbly, chocolate boxes or similar suitable items, as well as anyone wanting to lend a paw and volunteer to help on the day.
