COVID-19 info: Our rehoming centres are not open for public browsing but you can still make an appointment to adopt or bring a dog to us. We’ve set up new processes which include social distancing measures to help keep staff and our visitors safe.

2019 yearly wrap-up from Canterbury Dogs Trust

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are ready to welcome in a new decade!

It’s been a busy, busy year for our Canterbury Centre with the completion of our rebuild and lots of dogs finding their forever homes.

We’ve had over 7000 visitors through our doors this year and we’ve rehomed a total of 373 dogs in 2019. We also had a record number of long-term residents find homes this year. These include Memphis, Vinnie, Caesar, Sandy, Bryn, Diego and Sleepy. We hope they’ve enjoyed their first Christmas in their forever homes!

We also like to thank all our wonderful volunteers who’ve donated 3,358 hours of their time to help our centre this year. Whether it be dog walking (or sit-ins!), laundry, centre maintenance, gardening or kennel cleaning – we would be lost without you! Your time and generosity means so much to us all – thank you!

We had a record-breaking year with our fundraising too– having raised over £10,000 for our dogs through the Fun Day in July and our Christmas Fair. Again, this would not be possible without the help of our volunteers and the wonderful public who have been so kind to us this year.

What a year it’s been for us here at the Canterbury centre! Thank you and we wish you all a happy new year!
