Dogs Trust’s Monmouth charity shop celebrated its 1st birthday on Saturday (4th May) and some VIPS (very important pooches) joined in the celebrations.
On the day, shop staff and volunteers joined in the fun to help mark this special occasion and human and canine shoppers enjoyed cake and homemade dog treats whilst they browsed for bargains.
Since its opening last year, staff at the charity shop say more than 7,000 bags of people’s pre-loved possessions have been donated and around 65,000 items have been sold including clothing, bric-a-brac and books which has raised more than £100,000 to help the cute canines under the care of Dogs Trust.
The Monmouth shop manager, Glen Saunders, said:
“We are delighted to be celebrating our 1st birthday, it’s been a great year and we are so grateful to everyone who has made the last 12 months such a success.
“We have been overwhelmed by the support of the local community who not only give generously but make each and every day such a pleasure.”
Helping to run the charity shop are a small team of dedicated volunteers, but as the shop prepares for a busy year, they are appealing for anyone who can offer their time.
“We simply couldn’t run this shop without the dedication of our volunteers - but we are always looking for more! Whether you can spare an hour or a day, please pop in and let us know if you can help.”
The shop is open from 9am-5pm, Monday to Saturday and 1am-4pm on Sundays. Anybody interested in becoming a volunteer should contact the shop on 01600 772 108 or visit at 1 Agincourt Square, Monmouth, NP25 3BT.
