Volunteer Adoption Assistant

As a Dog Adoption Assistant volunteer, you will play a crucial role in helping to find loving homes for our furry friends by assisting with our adoption process. You will be primarily interacting with customers as they travel through their adoption journey by supporting rehoming centres with the triage of online and in-person applications.
Your compassion and enthusiasm to help find a dog a home will provide a unique and lasting opportunity to significantly impact the lives of both our furry residents and families looking to welcome a new family member into their homes.
What will you be doing?
- assist with reviewing adoption applications, conducting telephone and in-centre interviews with potential adopters, and matching dogs to their potential families
- to work closely with adoption advisors, other volunteers, and centre staff to create a positive and efficient adoption process
- spend time getting to know about an individual dog, their personality, and their needs, to help find them their ideal home.
- to comply with Dogs Trust confidentiality policies and procedures
- be knowledgeable on the work of Dogs Trust and specifically your Rehoming Centre.
We’re looking for someone with:
- excellent communication and people skill
- excellent telephone manner
- passion for animal welfare and a genuine love for dogs
- non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards customers
- reliable and responsible with a commitment to Dogs Trust’s mission
- competent and comfortable with using computers. Experience of Salesforce would be advantageous but not essential (training offered as part of the induction process).
What this role will offer you:
This role will make a positive and lasting impact to the lives of dogs and families in your community. You will be a part of a supportive and passionate team of like-minded individuals. We will provide you with a key contact who will answer your questions and assist you with training for the role. You will gain new skills and have an opportunity to develop your current skills. We will provide a Dogs Trust uniform, and make sure you are recognised for the role you are carrying out in support of Dogs Trust, through our Volunteer Merits Scheme.
